Look ("we", "us", or "our") built the Look app as a social discovery service. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app.

1. Data We Collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google.
Photos. Photos you take within the app are uploaded to secure cloud storage (Firebase Storage) and used to find potential matches via AI analysis.
Location. With your permission, we collect approximate location when you post a photo. Location helps connect you with people nearby. It is stored alongside your photo and is not shared publicly.
Messages. Chat messages you send through the app are stored in our database (Firebase Firestore) and are only accessible to you and the people you are matched with.
Device token. We collect a push notification token to deliver match and message notifications to your device.

2. How We Use Your Data

To authenticate you and maintain your account.
To analyse photos using AI in order to identify and suggest potential matches.
To deliver in-app and push notifications about matches and messages.
To improve the reliability and quality of the service.

3. AI Photo Analysis

Photos are processed by Google's Gemini AI to generate descriptive metadata and compare similarity with other photos in the app. This analysis is used solely for matching purposes. Photos are not used to train external AI models.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with:

Google Firebase – for authentication, database, storage, and push notifications (Google's privacy policy applies).
Google Gemini API – for AI photo analysis (images are sent to Google's API for processing).
Other users – your profile photo and display name are shown to users you are matched with.

5. Data Retention

Your photos and account data are retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

6. Security

All data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, which uses industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Access to your data is restricted to authenticated users only.

7. Children's Privacy

Look is not directed to anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. You can also revoke Google Sign-in access from your Google account settings at any time.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
